We are a New Century High School, and therefore have a limited unscreened policy for student admission. Priority is given to students who attend informational meetings like the Open Houses or high school fairs; we do not select students based on their grades. We will be participating in the citywide high school application process. If you are interested in attending this school, please remember to put program code #Q76A on your high school application form.

The Civic Leadership Academy is a community working together to ensure the growth and success of all our students. We believe that by making our expectations clear, everyone in our community has a common understanding of the beliefs and goals of the school. We are guided by our core values of Commitment to Learning, Commitment to Community, and Empowerment and our expectations reflect these values. They are:
Uniforms are a symbol of our community and our focus on learning. All students are expected to wear the school uniform, which consists of a polo shirt with the school logo and khaki pants every day.
However, because we believe that students should have a voice in developing policies that affect them, we will offer students an opportunity to select the color of the polo shirt and other clothing options for the school year. At our first whole school event in June, students will be shown clothing options and given a survey to complete. The choices that receive majority votes will be the choices offered to students for the school year. Uniforms will be available in early August during the Summer Bridge program.
Students will also work together to determine the schoolwide policy for uniform infractions. More information will be given about establishing this policy in their Youth Action and Development class.
All ninth graders are strongly encouraged to attend the 3-day Summer Bridge program, which will offer them an opportunity to meet and interact with teachers and classmates, get their uniforms, and tour the school (if possible).
During the Summer Bridge program, we will conduct a series of team building activities, introduce students to the policies of the schools, give students exposure to our advisory program, and gather diagnostic data to plan effective instruction. The Summer Bridge program will end with a celebration that includes students, their families, and community members.
